Effective Media Relations in a Social Media World
Has social media superseded traditional media relations? Or can these two PR tools operate side-by- side and complement one another? To answer that question, you have to be an expert in social media AND traditional media. Carol Fowler, our dinner speaker on Thursday, March 9, 2017, knows both disciplines inside and out.
Carol is nationally recognized with more than 20 years of broadcast and digital management experience and a proven track record in establishing and operating award-winning news operations and bringing them into the digital age. She’s based in Chicago, the third largest U.S. media market, and has held senior positions with four of the five top television stations there including serving as News Director at WGN-TV, CBS2 Chicago and Fox32 Chicago.
Carol’s current focus is KloboMedia, a digital content company which she co-founded in 2014. The business helps brands succeed in social media by managing over-arching strategy and providing actionable tips through curated, competitive analysis. In 2015, under Carol’s direction, KloboMedia launched TheSocReports, a social media insights product to help personal brands gain followers and grow influence.
Carol’s early experience came In Central Illinois. She was an award-winning on-air reporter, covering the Illinois legislature for WCIA-TV in Champaign and WMBD-TV- AM in Peoria as well as serving as Springfield bureau chief (1982-1989).
Please join us at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria as Carol helps PR professionals navigate the sometimes murky waters of the convergence of social media and traditional media.
