Chartered in 1979, the Central Illinois Chapter brings together people who are involved in public relations through professional development and advances the profession through public education, service and high standards of conduct. Chapter members live and work throughout Central Illinois in Bloomington-Normal, Champaign-Urbana, Decatur, Macomb, Peoria and Springfield. In past years, Chapter meetings have been in-person evening dinner meetings but because of COVID-19 we are temporarily holding virtual meetings toward the end of the business day. We miss seeing each other in person and look forward to resuming dinner meetings as soon as it is safe to do so.
The Central Illinois Chapter is part of the Public Relations Society of America, the world’s largest organization for public relations professionals. PRSA, with more than 30,000 members, is the nation’s leading professional organization serving the communications community. PRSA is the principal advocate for industry excellence and ethical conduct and provides members lifelong learning opportunities and leading-edge resources to enhance professional connections and support them at every stage of their career.
PRSA represents a great value to its members who represent business and industry, counseling firms, government, associations, hospitals and other professional services. PRSA stands behind its new code of ethics, which was approved at the Fall World Congress in Chicago in October 2000.
The Central Illinois chapter has developed strong ties with student-led PRSSA chapters at Illinois State University, Bradley University, the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, Eastern Illinois University and Western Illinois University.
